Scranton Police Department Facebook Group: A Digital Occupation
At its height of popularity, the Scranton Police Department public Facebook group was packed with over 15,000 ardent supporters of the local police. Most members of the online group were local to Scranton, Pennsylvania, or had lived in the area at some point in their lives. The group was founded in early 2012 by Allie Massey, a Scranton resident, who cheerfully administrated the bustling online community.
If you scroll through the content of the page you can view a myriad of Blue Lives Matter Flags, memes calling for prayers and safety of the police, notices of missing people reports and lost pets. You’ll also view a smattering of racist, sexist and anti-Obama content.

Wisconsin Assembly Ends Session without Passing Anti-Sanctuary Hate Bill
Republished with permission from Voces de la Frontera
MADISON, WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Assembly adjourned early Friday morning without passing an anti-immigrant bill, AB190/SB275, that would have allowed local employees to racially profile, interrogate, and detain community members for immigration status. The bill also would have mandated authorities turn immigrants over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This comes following months of pressure from immigrant community members and diverse supporters including farmers and religious leaders who urged lawmakers to reject the bill.

Valentines Day this year came and left leaving behind great pain for anyone who has the capability of feeling. At the time of writing, 17 young lives have been lost at the hands of a violent young man. That's 17 families that will never again have the chance to hug their child, to kiss them, or to tell them that they love them. For the trolls of 4chan and the right wing of American politics, however, tragedy is not a time of mourning and reflection, it is simply a time of new opportunity for them to use the deaths of children in a pathetic and transparent attempt to smear their opposition.
